Whoever said money can't buy happiness, never paid an adoption fee!
AJ's Search and Rescue is a 501c3 non-profit animal rescue based in Akron, Ohio founded in 2016. We rescue animals and search to find them a forever home.  We are a foster based organization that takes homeless dogs and cats into our homes and provide them with proper medical care, food, shelter and love until they find their forever home and get adopted.
Our Mission
To Save Lives, One Paw at a Time! We provide temporary shelter to stray, abandoned, and surrendered animals for the purpose of finding them their forever homes.
We strive in getting the homeless animal population to decrease by spaying and neutering all of our animals before they continue their journey into their new home.

Dog of the month

Meet Mav! He is a 1 yr old Pit mix weighing 55lbs. We are thinking he has some hound in him, cause he can howl. We are also wondering if he has some Lab in him, as he loves retrieving and listens well. He is house broke and crate trained.  He knows basic commands.  He gets along with other dogs, loves to run and wrestle with them. He will chase a cat, so if his forever home has a cat, they must have a dog to help entertain him. We have not seen him around kids so we will not place him in a home with kids under 10-12ish yrs old. He is a lover and wants to please his owner.  He could use a general obedience class but it is not a must. He would love a fenced in yard or a secured area where is would be able to stretch his legs and play ball ;)

Cat of the month

Meet Dart! He is 2 1/2 yrs old. Dart is sweet, fun, and funny. He is a friendly, energetic, affectionate cat who enjoys the company of people. He likes to dart about getting into mischief and loves to play. He is one of those kitties who will want to be with you wherever you are and cries at the door if his people are on the other side. He has shown that he takes some time to settle in to new situations, so he will need a family that will be patient with him for the first week or so while he grumbles and hisses about being in another new place. Older, cat savvy kids are probably ok, but no little ones.  He is ready for his forever home.

FOREVER TAILS

Hi!  I just thought I'd give you a little update on how Vinny is doing.  He is adjusting very well.  It took only a few days to gain some trust. He is very playful and is always playing with Reeces toys.  He is a little shadow!!  He follows us everywhere.   He's always right on our heels.  He definitely does well on a schedule.   He eats and in about an hour or hour& a-half, he is asking to go out.  We have had absolutely NO accidents in the house
